Newburgh Man Nabbed For Armed Carjacking, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for an alleged carjacking at gunpoint. The incident took place around 5:15 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 12, in Orange County in the area of William and Ann streets in the City of Newburgh, police said. Responding officers determined that City of Newburgh resident Kaheem Walker, age 40, threatened to shoot a male victim and then stole his vehicle, police said. A registered sex offender who was convicted of having sexual contact with three girls under the age of 11 has reported a move in Orange County. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 37-year-old Geoffrey Peters, who has moved from Ann Street to Grand Street in Newburgh. A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of using a weapon to have sexual contact with two children under the age of 5 has reported a move within Newburgh.
