Woman Breaks Into Man's Home, Then Damages Vehicle During Rampage, Police Say

A 35-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into a man's home and then used her vehicle to damage a vehicle in the parking area as she continued her attack.

The incident took place in Dutchess County around 9:30 a.m., Sunday, June 14, when the Town of East Fishkill Police Department responded to a disturbance complaint.

When police arrived at the Hamilton Road residence, they found Sarah Atkins, 35, of East Fishkill, went inside the home of a 41-year-old man she knows and damaged property, said East Fishkill Police Lt. Derrick Cuccia.

She then got inside her vehicle and ended up damaging a vehicle while still angry, police say.

Atkins was charged with:

  • Burglary
  • Criminal mischief 
  • Attempt to commit assault
  • Criminal mischief
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Criminal possession of a weapon

Atkins was located later in the day, arrested, and arraigned. She was released on her own recognizance.
