A Newburg man was charged with violating a protective order during a routine traffic stop by Ulster County deputies on Saturday.
Dorean B. McKoy, 21, was charged with felony criminal contempt, driving with suspended registration, and other traffic violations after being stopped on Route 32 around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff's department said.
During the stop, deputies discovered that an order of protection was in place prohibiting McKoy from being in contact with the passenger in the vehicle, sheriff's officials said.
McKoy was arraigned in Town of Plattekill Court and released on $1,500 cash bail.
