As of late Monday morning, April 15, 312 Central Hudson customers were reporting power outages in the Hudson Valley. An additional 37 NYSEG customers were left without power.
In Dutchess, 77 residents in Washington were reporting outages, followed by North East (50 outages reported); Poughkeepsie (23); Amenia (23) and Millbrook (seven). In Orange County, there were 45 outages reported in Cornwall and 23 reported in Newburgh.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, which will be in effect from noon until 2 a.m. Winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching 55 mph. The NWS warned that the strong winds may down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages can be expected.
On Twitter, Central Hudson posted: “A wind advisory is in effect for the Mid-Hudson Valley. Winds are expected to pick up later today into tonight. Gusts could damage trees and potentially impact the electrical system. Remember to stay at least 30 feet away from fallen wires and anything they contact. NEVER drive over fallen wires.
