Orange County Law Enforcement Unions Agree To New Contracts

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. - Two key law enforcement unions agreed to new contracts with Orange County officials through 2022 on Wednesday, according to County Executive Steven Neuhaus.

The Orange County Corrections Officers Benevolent Association (COBA) and the Superior Officers Association (SOA) will both begin their new contracts on Jan. 1, 2018. Both unions have existing contracts set to expire on Dec. 31 this year.

“These are fair and equitable contracts for County Government and for the employees of the Sheriff’s Office who do terrific work every day to make our County safe,” Neuhaus said. “I thank COBA President Rafael Marquez and SOA President Anthony Mele for working with the County to fairly settle these contracts before their expiration.”

Both unions have agreed to the same terms with respect to wage increases: 1.95 percent in 2018; 2 percent in 2019; 2 percent in 2020; 2 percent in 2021; and 2 percent in 2022.

“County Executive Neuhaus and his team and Sheriff DuBois are to be commended for working with the union to achieve meaningful, no-nonsense negotiations,” Marquez said.
