Dr. Sree Chirumanilla also said, in her opinion, the injuries sustained by the 2-month-old could not have been the result of a short fall, saying the damage to the brain and spine area was far too extensive, the Record reported.

Heil, 27, is facing second-degree murder as well as first and second-degree manslaughter charges stemming from the death of his infant son Zachary on Aug. 7 last year.

Baby Heil was originally taken to Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill before being transferred to Westchester Medical Center where Zachary had a portion of his skull, as well as a large blood clot, removed. The infant was unable to recover and died after being taken off life support systems, the Record said.
