A Philadelphia trio led Paramus police officers on a brief chase that resulted in a crash -- and then their arrests, authorities said. On Oct. 3, Paramus police officers responded to the Paramus Park Mall on a reports of three people pickpocketing and stealing, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Teen Caught Driving Stolen Vehicle In I-87 Stop, Police Say
A teenager was busted by New York State Police troopers driving an allegedly stolen car on I-87 in Orange County. Troopers stopped a vehicle driven by Winston Salem, North Carolina resident Jacob Hawks, 19, at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 for a traffic violation in Woodbury. A new report from Safewise.com named nearly two dozen Hudson Valley municipalities among the 50 "safest cities" in New York. Based on the latest FBI report, the state boasts a property crime rate 40 percent less than the national average, the site said. Two Killed In Two-Alarm Hudson Valley House Fire
Two people were killed in a two-alarm house fire early Wednesday in the Hudson Valley, according to the New York State Police. The fire, which was reported around 3 a.m. in Monroe in Orange County, was already fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene, officials said. Two people inside the residence at 18 Elm Road were found by firefighters, said Trooper Steven Nevel, spokesman for the New York State Police. UPDATE: Nine teenage boys were injured in an Orange County camp dormitory explosion and fire just after midnight Friday in South Blooming Grove, authorities reported. All were from Brooklyn, they said. Three were seriously injured and the others sustained minor injuries, fire officials said. A fellow member of a gang from Rockland was sentenced Wednesday to 65 months in federal prison for his role in carjacking, kidnapping and leaving a local cab driver for dead in Orange County after he and four others robbed a North Jersey bar. A 26-year-old man is behind bars after being caught with more than a pound of cocaine during a stop late Wednesday night on I-87 in Woodbury. State Police stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation just after 10 p.m. During the interview of the driver, probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established, state police said. Man Nabbed With Half-Pound Of Pot In I-87 Stop
A routine traffic stop on I-87 in the Hudson Valley led New York State Police troopers to the discovery of a man in possession of more than a half pound of marijuana. Shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday night, troopers stopped Bronx resident Edgar Manon, 39, on I-87 in Orange County for an equipment violation. Investigators with the New York State Police in Orange County are seeking the public’s assistance as they search for a man who is wanted after being busted with more than two dozen fraudulent credit cards. An alert was issued for 26-year-old Fernando Pile, Jr., who is wanted on charges that include unlawful possession of a skimmer device, second-degree forgery and possession of a forged instrument after he was busted during a traffic stop in Monroe.
