Embattled Former Mount Vernon Mayor Barred From City Comptroller Ballot
Despite petitioning through much of the spring, former Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas’ attempts to get on the Democratic primary ballot for city comptroller has been rejected by a Supreme Court judge. Following two days of hearings, state Supreme Court Justice Mary Smith ruled that Thomas’ petition to overturn the Westchester Board of Elections’ rejection of his nominating committee was not specific enough. Abinanti In Tight Race With Challenger Jennifer Williams For Assembly Seat In Westchester
With mail-in and absentee ballots still being counted, five-term Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti is in a heated neck-and-neck race for his seat in the 92nd Assembly District. According to the Westchester Board of Elections, as of Thursday, June 25, each of the candidates have 50 percent of the vote, with Abinanti tallying 3,320 votes against challenger Jennifer Williams’ 3,395. Results So Far Point To Victory In Westchester DA Race, Rocah Campaign Says
Ballots are still being counted, but the Westchester County District Attorney’s race could already be decided, according to challenger Mimi Rocah. Former Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis Battling To Get Back On Ballot
Former Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis, who is hopeful of taking office after being ousted by incumbent Mayor Richard Thomas is taking the Westchester Board of Elections to court in an effort to have his name on the ballot in June’s Democratic primary. Last week, Davis was notified that he was taken off the ballot after hundreds of signatures nominating him were deemed invalid on his petition.
