A man is in custody after slashing a victim's throat in Westchester, authorities announced.
The incident happened in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, April 4 around 8 p.m., when two men from the city were involved in an altercation.
During this fight, a victim, identified as 52-year-old Louis Kirkland, was cut across his neck, according to Mount Vernon Director of Communications Timothy Allen.

Two men have been charged with fatally shooting a 17-year-old in Westchester County nearly two years ago, police said.
The shooting happened in Mount Vernon on May 6, 2021, around 10:40 a.m., when police found 17-year-old Anthony Boyd Jr. with gunshot wounds to his chest at 34 South 8th Ave. Boyd was then taken to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, where he later died.

Nearly five years after a Westchester man was killed by a hit-and-run driver, prosecutors have announced criminal charges in his death.
A grand jury indicted Bronx resident Edmund Pennil, age 45, on felony manslaughter charges Friday, Aug. 19, in connection with the death of Tremayne Williams in Mount Vernon.
Emergency crews found Williams, who was 41 at the time, just before 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, lying unresponsive on East Third Street in Mount Vernon.

A Westchester couple has admitted to their roles in the death of a six-week-old baby, the District Attorney’s Office announced.
Mount Vernon residents Henry Lantigua, age 41, and Shannelle Straker, age 39, pleaded guilty this week to criminally negligent homicide following the death of their child in 2018.
