A popular restaurant known for serving Halal food will soon be celebrating the opening of a new location in Westchester.
Shah's Halal Food, which opened a new location in Yonkers at 2475 Central Park Ave. in February, will be holding a grand opening celebration at its newest eatery in the city on Monday, April 24.
The restaurant chain, which also opened a location in White Plains in 2022, is known for menu items such as gyros and platters that include lamb, rice, hummus, and more, according to the business's website.

A Westchester man who had expressed support for radical Islamic extremism faces prison time after allegedly making repeated threats to kill police officers and a mayor, officials said.
Yonkers resident Ridon Kola, age 32, was arrested on Friday, March 17, and charged with making threats to kill members of the city's police department and the city's mayor, Mike Spano, according to the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

A city in Westchester has seen a dramatic rise in unlicensed smoke shops selling cannabis and other illegal products to children, officials said.

Cantina 914, located in Yonkers at 527 Nepperhan Ave., celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday night, Nov. 17, according to Yonkers city officials.
