Longtime Northern Westchester Firefighter Dies At 56: Remembered For Life Of Service A Northern Westchester community is mourning the sudden loss of veteran firefighter and Hudson Valley resident Christopher Johanson, who dedicated his life to service and his family.  Johanson, a 24-year veteran firefighter with the Lake Mohegan Fire Department, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 26, at his home in Cold Spring at the age of 56, according to his obituary.  Johanson, badge number 61, joined the Lake Mohegan Fire Department in August 2000 and was most recently assigned to Station 2, the Jefferson Valley Firehouse.  In a memorial post on social media, t…

Person Killed After Being Hit By Car In Westchester Authorities are investigating after a 58-year-old was fatally struck by a vehicle at a Northern Westchester intersection.  The incident happened in Yorktown on Wednesday, Oct. 18 just before 7 a.m., when a pedestrian was hit in the area of Old Yorktown Road and Strang Boulevard, Yorktown Police announced.  Shortly after the crash, Yorktown Police officers as well as crews from Empress EMS, the Lake Mohegan Volunteer Ambulance Corp, and the Lake Mohegan Fire Department raced to the scene. Woman Killed In Three-Car Westchester Crash Police in Northern Westchester are investigating a three-vehicle crash in which a local woman was killed. The crash took place around 6:05 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28 on Route 202 (Crompond Road) in Yorktown, just west of Garden Lane. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, a 70-year-old woman from Mohegan Lake died at the scene, said Yorktown Police Lt. John Delulio. Another driver was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third driver refused medical attention at the scene, Delulio said.
