Search For Missing Man Causes Closures Of Area Lake Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. All First-Graders Released From Hospital After Ceiling Collapses All students who were at the Madden Outdoor Education Center in Putnam County when a portion of the ceiling collapsed on Friday were released from Putnam Hospital Center by 3:30 p.m., said Ellen Lane, communications director of Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES.
