Lifelong Firefighter, Westchester Native Dies: 'His Legacy Will Undoubtedly Live On'
A Hudson Valley resident who spent decades protecting his community as a firefighter is being remembered for his selflessness and outgoing nature. Putnam County resident Dennis Rotenberg of Garrison died on Saturday, Jan. 13 at the age of 71, according to his obituary. Born in the Northern Westchester city of Peekskill in 1952, Rotenberg attended Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak and went on to work with City Carting of Westchester for three decades. Toxic smoke had to be vented out of a Hudson Valley home after a tub of lithium batteries caught on fire, fire officials said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Tuesday morning, Jan. 9, when a homeowner in Garrison reported black smoke coming from their garage, according to the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company. Arriving fire crews found that a metal tub of lithium batteries in the home's garage had caught on fire. Rollover Crash: 2 Sent To Hospital After Hudson Valley Wreck
A person had to be extricated from a wrecked vehicle following a rollover crash in the Hudson Valley that sent two victims to the hospital. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18, when crews responded to a rollover crash on Route 9 in Garrison, according to the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company. Drunk Motorist Assaults Area Sheriff After Fleeing From His House
At the height of the intense storm that hit the Hudson Valley on Tuesday, May 15, Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley spotted a stranger trespassing on his property in the town of Philipstown. Of course, being the sheriff, Langley went to investigate and met up with 33-year-old Brant D. Two From Westchester Injured In Route 9 Crash
Three local residents injured in a head-on crash on Route 9 had to be airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, officials said. The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle driving south veered into the oncoming lane and struck a northbound car, said state police.
