Water Main Break Closes 4th Ave, 1st Street In Mount Vernon A water main break has blocked traffic at a busy intersection in Westchester. The break happened on Wednesday morning, May 1, at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and First Street in Mount Vernon, according to city officials. As a result of the water main break, residents and motorists in the area are being warned of traffic disruptions in the area as the city works to make repairs. ID Released For Man Killed In Crash Near Mount Vernon East Station The driver of a car who died after his vehicle fell nearly 40 feet off a gated embankment near a train station in Westchester has been identified. Joseph Kerker, 67, of New Rochelle, was killed when the Toyota he was driving veered off the road and through a fence late Saturday afternoon near the Mount Vernon East train station at the intersection of First Avenue and First Street, said the Mount Vernon Polie The MTA and Mount Vernon Police Department are working jointly to investigate the incident.  This is a developing story.
