Video: Woman Escapes Injury After Flames Explode From Car In Area
Things got dangerous for a driver who received a shock when her car suddenly burst in flames in Orange County. The woman driving on Clove Road just off of Route 208 in South Blooming Grove told officials that she smelled smoke shortly after making the turn onto the roadway shortly after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Her Toyota Camry then proceeded to stall out and flames burst through the hood of the car. The woman was able to escape the blaze unscathed, and firefighters were called to the scene. Smoke could be seen billowing in the air for blocks as fire crews battled a blaze that broke out during the day on Christmas Eve. The fire started just before noon in Mount Vernon on Monday, Dec. 24 as smoke and flames could be seen billowing through the roof of a Bruce Avenue home, which has reportedly been abandoned for years. The fire was still raging after more than an hour as crews attempted to knock down the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported. Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of a home on Monday morning as crews battled a two-alarm fire that broke out in Westchester. A cat suffered a scare, but was ultimately rescued, as dozens of firefighters battled another blaze at a Yonkers home, leaving two with minor injuries. A fire broke out shortly after 1:30 p.m. at a two-story Kathwood Road home on Monday, Dec. 10. The elderly homeowner was able to evacuate the property, but a cat was left behind as the flames spread from a first-floor bedroom to the second. A gas leak has closed a roadway in Port Chester as police, fire and Con Ed employees work to find the source of the leak. The fire department has been on the scene on Ellendale Avenue for more than three hours trying to locate the source of the leak that is causing a strong odor of gas in the area, said the Port Chester Police. Fire Breaks Out At Historic Mansion In New Rochelle
A historic mansion in Westchester that has stood for more than a century was destroyed on Monday when a fire tore through the structure. Dozens of firefighters responded to the Wildcliff Manor in in New Rochelle shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, when a fire was reported at the building, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. 40 Firefighters Battle Blaze At Six-Story Apartment Building In Westchester
A fire broke out in a unit of a six-story apartment complex in Westchester late Wednesday morning. The fire alarm came in at 11:45 a.m. at 30 Locust Hill Ave. in Yonkers, said Yonkers Deputy Fire Chief of Personnel Daniel Flynn. Responding firefighters were able to contain the one-alarm fire to the one apartment and the fire was declared under control by 12:08 p.m., Flynn said. Approximately 40 firefighters and officers responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, Flynn added. No injuries were reported.
