Investigation Launched After 'Liberty Tree' Cut Down In North White Plains Police in North Castle are investigating a suspicious incident in North White Plains that saw the famed “Liberty Tree” cut down near the Miller House. The North Castle Police Department was advised by North Castle Town Councilman Barry Reiter on Thursday morning that a suspect had cut down the Liberty Tree at Miller Hill Park overnight. The tree was first reportedly planted in 1976 to commemorate the Bicentennial, near the historic home that was used by George Washington during the Revolutionary War during the Battle of White Plains.
