Man Shot In Chest Near Fire Station In Mount Vernon: Suspect At Large Authorities are investigating a shooting down the street from a fire station in Westchester that left a man hospitalized.  The incident happened on Tuesday, Sept. 17 around 9:30 p.m., when shots were fired at an apartment complex at 103 West 3rd Street in Mount Vernon, down the street from a Mount Vernon firehouse, according to city officials.  Officers who arrived at the scene of the shooting found several shell casings in the apartment complex's parking lot.  A man who was shot in the abdomen was taken to the Mount Vernon emergency room by "private means," officials said, …
