New York lawmakers are considering new legislation aimed at protecting sex trafficking survivors and closing a legal loophole often used by their abusers. The Sex Trade Survivors Justice and Equality Act (STSJEA), introduced by Democratic Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter, would decriminalize prostitution and automatically expunge all prior convictions for prostitution. A multi-million dollar resurfacing project is underway on two of Westchester's busiest roadways. A group of high school students have been recognized for their local efforts to improve gun safety. Students from the Bronxville High School were among those celebrated for taking a stand in the debate on gun violence at the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Westchester Regional benefit, which was held in Eastchester on April 26. Hudson Valley lawmakers are pushing forward with a proposed bill to change the state primary election date from Tuesday, Sept. 11 to Thursday, Sept. 13 to ensure that all parties are able to get to the polls.
