Last week, New Rochelle resident Rivera visited his neighbors in Mount Vernon to deliver some new literature for students, office equipment for staff members and announced that he, the district and HP were teaming up to ensure that every student visiting the library would have access to a laptop.
During his brief stop at Hamilton, Rivera spoke to a select group of students and staff, where he explained the importance of reading, citing his favorite book growing up: Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer.”
“Reading is important in everything you do,” he told the students. “You gain knowledge and an understanding about what things are all about. You get information and it’s a great experience when you have a place like this. It’s a team, a group of boys and girls that have to learn together can only be called a team.”
