Richard Greco, chairman of The Montfort Academy, said the school decided to move to Mount Vernon from Katonah so it could reach a more "numerous" and "diverse" prospective student body.

"Relocating will also allow more students to take advantage of Montfort's affordable, classical Catholic education," Greco said in a news release. "Fleetwood is a beautiful section in the City of Mount Vernon, and we are excited to become part of a vibrant, active parish community with genuine pastoral leadership."

Montfort has scheduled open houses for prospective students and their parents. The first will be held Thursday  from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the new location at 129 E. Birch St.  A second open house will be held on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Then, two more open houses will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
