Davis’s plan for his revised budget would spend $900,000 from a fund intended to cover refunds for property tax challenges. The revised budget was adopted by the Board of Estimates and Contracts by a 2-1 vote with Comptroller Maureen Walker voting against it. Walker said that the budget, which would cut $250,000 from the allocation for the public library and $200,000 from the Public Works Department didn’t make sense.

With a new tax increase on the table, residents will get another chance to speak out on the budget Friday, Dec. 21. At the last public hearing, residents spilled out into the halls of City Hall to protest the original 9.8 percent tax increase.
