Police confirmed that at approximately 9:45 a.m. a 23-year-old lost control of his BMW and struck a 38-year-old who was walking in front of the mixed-use development at 269 W. First St. Both were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The BMW suffered massive damage to its front end, a storefront window was destroyed and the building may require brickwork.

According to officials, weather may have been to blame, and the driver may have struck an early morning patch of black ice that caused him to lose control of the vehicle, though the official cause is under investigation.
