Lt. Omar Lanier is accused of using the social media account under the name “Live Republic,” according to News 12, which reported that the controversial post said, in part, “Hooray for Dallas and the real gangstas who took the shots.”
The Instagram post, which has since been removed, also called for people to “Let’s keep it going,” according to News 12.
While acting Fire Commissioner Ernie Richardson called the post “out of character” for Lanier, officials with the Yonkers PBA and Westchester Blacks in Law Enforcement expressed anger over the incident, according to News 12, which reported that Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas apparently found about the post several weeks ago.
