Shortly before 11 a.m., the fire broke out in a first floor apartment in the Linden View Terrace building. By 3 p.m., the windows had been boarded, several charred windows were piled in front of the building and the air was clear of the scent of smoke.
According to fire officials, one firefighter sustained minor injuries battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The apartment was heavily damaged, but it is believed that after an extensive cleanup, the tenant who was displaced by the fire, could potentially inhabit the space again.
The fire forced the brief closing of North Terrace Avenue.
