Fugitive Who Shot Man In Head In Mount Vernon Caught Out Of State, Police Say

A man who shot a victim in the head in Westchester County and then fled the state has been caught by authorities, police said.

Richmond, Virginia resident Delvauna "Randy" Brown, age 40, has been charged with shooting Yonkers resident Garfield Morgan in the head in Mount Vernon on Monday, Dec. 19, according to Mount Vernon Police. 

Authorities started searching for Brown after discovering Morgan, age 48, on the ground with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head in the area of 220 South 9th Ave., police said.  

First responders quickly began giving medical treatment to Morgan, who was taken by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he is expected to make a full recovery. 

Brown was caught by Richmond Police and members of the FBI Central Virginia Violent Crime Task Force on Tuesday, Dec. 20 around 2 p.m. after he fled Mount Vernon following the shooting, police said. 

He is charged with second-degree attempted murder, and appeared in court in Virginia on Wednesday, Dec. 21 on a Mount Vernon warrant, according to authorities.
