John Joseph O’Grady III, 58, Lifetime Mount Vernon Resident

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - John Joseph (Shady) O'Grady III, a lifetime resident of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, May 22. He was 58.

O’Grady was born to John and Catherine Durkin O'Grady. He attended Mt. Vernon schools and worked for the MV Dept of Public Works for over 30 years until his retirement a few years ago.

O’Grady is survived by his siblings, Ellenjane LaSorsa of North Carolina, Bernadette (Frank) Faughnan of Valhalla, Gary (Laura) of Mt. Vernon, Andrew (Laura) of Lake Peekskill, Veronica of Nashville and Daniel (Arlet) of Wappinger Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Friday, May 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
