MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Balduino DiMatteo of Mount Vernon died Saturday, Dec. 8. He was 84.
DiMatteo was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, to Rocco and Lucia DiMatteo. He married Clementina DiMatteo on Sept. 2, 1951, in Guardia Lombardi.
After immigrating to the U.S., DiMatteo worked as a mason for the Pinebrook Landscaping Company for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Guardia Lombardi Club.
DiMatteo is survived by his wife, Clementina; a son, Pietro (Lorraine) DiMatteo; a daughter, Mirella (Rocco) Maiorano; a sister, Elvira Gentile; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and four sisters.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Yannantuono Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
