Register Now For Mount Vernon Parking Meter Worker Exam

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Anyone interested into taking the exam to become a parking meter worker has until Nov. 5 to register.

The exams will be held at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at the A.B. Davis Middle School.

Candidates for the job must be a resident of Mount Vernon for at least a year prior to taking the exam, have a high school diploma and a valid driver's license and one year of mechanical experience. The salary range is from $48,743.43 to $68,269.80.

To register for the exam, applicants should complete an application available at the Mount Vernon Municipal Civil Service Commission Office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m,. or send a self-addressed, legal-sized envelope to the Civil Service Commission, Room 103, City Hall, One Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon, NY 10550. Applications are also available on the city's website at www.cmvny.com. All applications must be returned by 3 p.m. Nov. 5.

The written exam will cover the applicants knowledge, skills and/or abilities in the following areas: Arithmetic computations, operation and maintenance of mechanical devices, use an identification of tools and operation and servicing of parking meters. Calculators are allowed during the test. Cost of the exam is $15.
