The performer, whose name has not been released, remained conscious after the fall and was hospitalized for observation and treatment.
"The performer is in stable condition, awake and alert," MVFD commissioner Teddy Beale said. "EMS were on-scene and responded within seconds.
"The show resumed and all remaining shows are expected to continue as scheduled.
"Mount Vernon’s first-responders remain on-scene as they do for all major public events in accordance with departmental protocol."
The UniverSoul Circus performs three shows daily in Mount Vernon. A large crowd attended the noon show when the performer fell.
