Andre Jones allegedly kidnapped Ricardo Panton on April 9 of this year. Jones and another suspect who is still at large, approached Panton while he was sitting in his vehicle, pointed a gun at him and ordered him to withdraw money from various ATMs in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, according to the district attorney's statement.
After nearly eight hours, the two suspects allegedly made off with approximately $1,000 of Panton's money as well as his cell phone and social security card, the district attorney said.
Panton was able to identify Jones out of a photo array. Mount Vernon Police arrested him after questioning, according to the district attorney's statement.
Jones was also arraigned on three counts of first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree robbery, second-degree attempted robbery, fourth-degree grand larceny and one count of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, according to the district attorney.
If convicted, Jones faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison.
