Dasia Bartee, 26, was arrested Saturday in connection with Samia Yusef’s death, according to News 12, which reported that authorities are still trying to determine how the toddler died.
Mount Vernon police found the girl at 210 Washington St. about 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Investigators said the girl had suffered trauma to her face, internal bleeding and was “unusually cold,” indicating she may, at one point, have been placed in a freezer, according to News 12.
Bartee was expected to be charged with first-degree manslaughter, a felony, according to News 12, which reported that two other children found in the home were placed in child protective custody.
A memorial near the home was set up to honor the girl, according to News 12, which reported that people ventured to the site Saturday to leave candles and stuffed animals.
