Friend Of Slain Mount Vernon Mother Sets Up GoFundMe Page To Help Family

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A close friend of Ashley McDuffie's, the mother of two who was allegedly strangled by her boyfriend earlier this month, has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her two children and for funeral services.

Jason Meyer has been charged with killing McDuffie and dumping her body in Seton Falls Park in the Bronx, just past the border of Mount Vernon. 

McDuffie had been missing since Aug. 19, when she failed to pick up her two children from their grandmother's house in Stamford, Conn.

The young mother left behind a 6-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. The GoFundMe page said that money raised will be used to help cover funeral costs and for the children's college tuition. 

To date, $3,508 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
