'Reckless, Improper' Bicycle Riding On Rise In This Westchester Town, Police Say A police department in Westchester is urging parents to teach their children proper bicycle riding habits following numerous incidents of unsafe and dangerous riding.  In an announcement on Friday, Sept. 6, the Town of Harrison Police Department noted an increase in "reckless and improper" bicycle riding throughout the town, including the downtown and West Harrison business districts.  The dangerous riding has been reported by patrolling officers, telephone complaints, and social media comments, the department said, adding that the incidents consist of:  Young people riding…

ID Released For Man Critically Injured After Being Hit By Van In Westchester A man who was critically injured after being struck by a van while attempting to cross I-287 in Harrison has been identified. Diego A. Maidana, 39, of White Plains, was struck around 2:25 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 20, remains in critical but stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police.
