Fake Missing Child Post Circulates On Social Media In Hudson Valley
Authorities are warning residents not to fall for a false social media post claiming that a child is missing in the Hudson Valley. According to the Carmel Police Department in Putnam County, the fake post alleges that there is a missing 14-year-old child in Mahopac. The post comes from a page that repeatedly posts scam and hoax messages, the department said. In a screenshot of the post released by the department, the account that posted it was identified as "Jane Booger."

Man Admits To Gunpoint Robbery At Home In Westchester
A 21-year-old New York City man pleaded guilty on Thursday, July 27 to an armed robbery at a home in Mount Vernon. Tykeem Hines of the Bronx entered a guilty plea to second-degree robbery, a class C violent felony, in connection with a January robbery. The incident stemmed from a fake sale via social media, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. County Court Judge Barry Warhit accepted the plea.
