Village In Westchester Appoints First Female Police Chief A village in Westchester has appointed its first female police chief. The Village of Mamaroneck’s Board of Trustees announced that Lt. Sandra DiRuzza was named as the village’s Provisional Police Chief.  DiRuzza succeeds current Village of Mamaroneck Police Chief Christopher Leahy, who is retiring after a 30-year-career in law enforcement. DiRuzza will be the only woman leading a Westchester police department. Her appointment will be provisional until she takes a civil service exam.
