A longtime educator is heading back to Westchester to take over at the helm of the Mount Pleasant Central School District. Former Pelham Schools Superintendent Peter Giarrizzo has been named to the same position in Mount Pleasant, where he previously served as a director of instructional services earlier in his career. Westlake HS Senior Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash
A teenager was killed in a one-car crash in Northern Westchester, officials said. Police said that Westlake High School senior Sarah Lynch, a member of the class of 2021, was driving in Thornwood on Kensico Road near the intersection of Linda Avenue at approximately noon on Monday, Feb. 15 when she lost control and struck a utility pole. 'Exciting Upgrades': Construction Starts On Westlake Campus
Construction is officially underway for a series of what Mount Pleasant Central School District officials are calling “exciting upgrades” taking place at the Westlake campus throughout the summer. Construction crews have been working hard to ensure that as many upgrades as possible are prepared prior to the start of the 2019-2020 school year. Alert Issued After Mount Pleasant Students Followed 'Uncomfortably Close'
Two students in Mount Pleasant received a scare on Thursday when they “sensed someone walking uncomfortably close to them,” near the Hawthorne train station after being let off the bus. Mount Pleasant Central Schools Superintendent Kurtis Kotes issued an alert to parents on Friday, Dec. 14 cautioning that on Thursday, Dec. 13, two students were followed after being let out at their designated bus stop near the station. An exhaustive search has resulted in the Mount Pleasant Board of Education deciding on an experienced Orange County educator who lives in Dutchess to take over as the newest Superintendent of Schools.
