More Spotty Storms Possible As Potent System Pushes Through Northeast New rounds of scattered showers and storms could lead to localized areas of flash flooding in parts of the region with the possibility of isolated tornadoes. The time frame for the storm is Monday night, Aug. 14 into Tuesday, Aug. 15. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible where there are heavy downpours, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms will sweep through the region ahead of an approaching cold front. Higher levels of humidity levels will help to ignite the storms Friday, Aug. 4. Scattered severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, strong winds and hail are expected, with isolated tornadoes possible, ahead of the anticipated arrival of Hurricane turned Tropical Storm Isaias.
