'Fun Can Be Fatal': NY Police Announce Crackdown On Impaired Driving For Holiday Ahead of the holiday, officials announced the increased presence of undercover police cars and sobriety checkpoints to combat impaired driving. Starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 30, and lasting until 3 a.m on Wednesday, July 5, the New York State Police will be heightening patrols in an effort to reduce the number of drunk and other impaired driving infractions, according to a release by the NYSP.
