Four people have been arrested, including two facing manslaughter charges, and two others face arrest warrants in connection with a fatal fire at a Rockland County home for elderly residents. Photos: Large Tree Crashes Onto House In Area
A family in the area got an unexpected and unwelcome wake-up call when a tree came crashing through the roof of the house. First responders in Ramapo were dispatched to the residence on Feller Court in the Village of Airmont shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 where there was a report of a large, tall tree that had uprooted and struck the household. Upon arrival, members of the Ramapo Police Department and Tallman Fire Department found that the tree had gone through a portion of the roof through a section of the attic on the side of the house after uprooting. Car Crashes Into Front Of House In Westchester
A car slammed into the front of a Westchester duplex overnight, damaging a brick wall and causing the evacuation of residents. The incident took place around 2:49 a.m. Friday when the car slammed into a house at 73 Shonnard Place, said Yonkers Police Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos. The driver, who apparently lost control of the vehicle, was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. No one inside the home was injured, he said. The duplex had to be evacuated until the city building inspector assessed the damage, he added. The car was removed by 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Two Families Displaced In Blaze Battled By 45 Firefighters In Westchester
Two families were displaced on late Thursday night after a fire broke out in the upper floors of a multi-family home in Yonkers. Crews from the Yonkers Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Hawthorne Avenue shortly before 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, Assistant Chief Thomas Fitzpatrick said.
