Westchester Community College Baseball Players Honored

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Westchester Community College’s baseball team ended its season Sunday with an 8-2 loss to Mercyhurst North East in the Eastern District playoffs, but the weekend was not all negative for the Vikings.

Catcher Jaime Maldonado was named MVP of the NJCAA Region XV Division II Tournament and coach Billy McClure earned Coach of the Year honors. Pat Farina was named NJCAA Region XV Co-Player of the Year, along with Sullivan Community College’s Jossue Delgado.

The Vikings defeated Community College of Rhode Island in the first round, but then lost to Mercyhurst North East. Community College of Rhode Island then defeated Mercyhurst North East to win the tournament and advance to the NJCAA World Series in Enid, Oklahoma.
