White Plains Man With Suspended License Faces Felony DWI Charge After Westchester Avenue Stop

A Westchester Avenue traffic stop led to felony DWI charges for a White Plains man allegedly driving with a suspended license, according to police.

New York State Police say they stopped a vehicle on Westchester Avenue in the town of Harrison on Saturday, April 6 around 10:30 p.m.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Edwin Funeszelaya, was found to be intoxicated, police say. Funeszelaya also allegedly had a suspended license.

Funeszelaya was arrested and transported to SP Tarrytown, where his BAC was determined to be .13, according to police. Funeszelaya also allegedly has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years. As a result, he was charged with:

  • Driving while intoxicated, a Class E felony
  • First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a Class E felony
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic violations

Funeszelaya was released to a sober third party. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Harrison Court on Tuesday, April 30.
