Westchester Man Caught With Heroin After Traffic Stop In Putnam

A traffic stop in Putnam County led to the arrest of a Westchester man who was allegedly in possession of heroin, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

On Wednesday, July 31, members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit on patrol in Southeast stopped Scarsdale resident Donald Mittan, 44, when he committed a traffic violation.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, during the subsequent traffic stop, it was determined that Mittan was in possession of alleged heroin and he was arrested at the scene.

Mittan was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and released. He was scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court at a later date.
