Police are investigating the assault that occurred around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 in the area of Locust Hill Avenue at Overlook Terrace, said Yonkers Police Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.

The victim told police that he was accosted by three individuals and struck in the back of the head; the three suspects fled the scene, and a passerby called for assistance, Politopoulos said.

"The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment," he said.

It is undetermined at this time what type of object was used to commit the assault, he added.

One subject was detained at the scene and arrested on an unrelated bench warrant.

Investigators are actively following up leads and developing information to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, including the possibility that the suspects and victim were known to each other and this was not a random event, Politopoulos said.
