On Monday, state police announced that 24-year-old Joel Agostinelli-Tejada was facing multiple charges after he was stopped on the parkway by troopers for driving his Toyota 35 mph in a listed 55 mph speeding zone.
During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that Agostinelli-Tejada was in possession of an illegal weapon, marijuana and marijuana that counted PCP, police said. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated Agostinelli-Tejada and confirmed that he was driving his vehicle under the influence of drugs.
Agostinelli-Tejada was charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs, both misdemeanors. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Agostinelli-Tejada was arraigned in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. He is due back in court later this year.
