THORNWOOD, N.Y. The Mount Pleasant police are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Thornwood that Police Chief Louis Alagno said could be an attempted home burglary that was interrupted. Alagno said two male suspects were being apprehended Wednesday afternoon but no charges had been filed.
Alagno said he could not release any further details about the incident or where the home in Thornwood was located.
A string of home burglaries has occurred throughout Mount Pleasant over the past month, with the most recent happening Tuesday. A resident on Shelley Avenue in Valhalla reported to police about 8 p.m. that the home had been burglarized during the evening while it was vacant. The items taken were a laptop computer, Nintendo Wii video games, various pieces of jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Drug Charges: Police executed a search warrant early Wednesday that resulted in the arrest of John S. Adams, 22, of Thornwood on five misdemeanor drug charges. Police said they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia including a hypodermic needle, and $3,300 in cash at Adams' Thornwood home. Adams was released on his own recognizance to appear in Mount Pleasant Town Court.
Burglary Charges: Three students at the Pleasantville Cottage School were charged after they broke into an abandoned building on the school campus about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday and caused $5,000 worth of damage, police said. One 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds, all boys, were charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies. The 16-year-old was charged as an adult and was sent to the Westchester County Jail awaiting his appearance in the Mount Pleasant Town Court. The two others were charged as juvenile delinquents.
