Cops: Man Jumps to His Death In Kensico Reservoir

NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. – A 65-year-old White Plains man was found dead in the Kensico Reservoir early Tuesday morning in what officials said was a suicide by drowning.

Witnesses told the Department of Environmental Protection Police in Valhalla that the man parked his car on the side of the road on the Rye Lake Bridge in North Castle and jumped from the bridge in to the water.  The incident is still under investigation.

Police responded to a call that a man was floating in the reservoir at around 8 a.m., according to a spokesperson with the DEP.

The man was identified as John Sansevere, 65.  CPR attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and the Westchester County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a suicide.
