The incident took place Sunday afternoon when Cameron J. Petersen, 28, of Poughkeepsie, was driving westbound on Route 376 in the Town of Poughkeepsie when he crossed over into oncoming traffic near Red Oaks Mill Road and hit a vehicle with two people inside, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks.
The two occupants in the second vehicle received serious injuries and were transported by Mobile Life to Vassar Brothers Medical Center, he said.
The LaGrange Fire Department administered Narcan to Peterson, for the opioid overdose, Hicks said. Once revived, he was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital.
Petersen was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, Hicks said.
