At approximately 11:15 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York command center were notified of a vessel collision between a 40-foot vessel and an 18-foot vessel with both damaged.
A rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Kings Point arrived on scene approximately 15 minutes later, and the crew brought two injured people aboard their 29-foot Response Boat-Small.
The two people were then transferred to shore where emergency medical professionals who treated their injuries.
The damaged vessels were towed by commercial salvage.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
