Deadline for FEMA Aid Right Around the Corner

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is urging all homeowners and small business owners to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) by next week in regards to damage sustained during storms earlier this year.

“The deadline to apply for help is fast approaching,” said Astorino in a statement on the Westchester County website.

The deadline to register for aid is December 15.  Aid can be in the form of FEMA grants or through low-interest loans and can be used to repair physical damages done either during Hurricane Irene or the tropical storm in September.

Phillip Parr, FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer, urged residents to register even if they have already filed claims with their private insurance company.

“If your insurance coverage comes up short, or other damage appears later, you need to be registered for us to help,” Parr said in a statement.

Registration can be done by calling the FEMA help line at 800-621-3362 or by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov
