Covid-19: Schools Announce Closures, Schedule Adjustments For Thursday, March 12

Westchester County

Bedford Central School District: Closed on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 to "thoroughly sanitize" all district facilities after it was recommended a staff member at Fox Lane Middle School self-quarantine pending testing for the COVID-19.

Byram Hills Central School District: Closed Thursday, March 12. The Superintendent’s Conference Day will occur virtually on Friday, March 13.

The Harvey School, Katonah: Classes and after-school activities have been canceled for the remainder of the week leading into spring break, from Tuesday, March 10 to Friday, March 13.

Lakeland Central School District: Because of a direct COVID-19 connection. Friday, March 13 will remain a Superintendent’s Conference Day, with teachers working from home, and all after school and other activities canceled at least through the weekend. The district said it is trying to identify an alternate location for Saturday (March 14) SAT Exams scheduled for Walter Panas, and will update.

Peekskill City School District: Several students within one Peekskill Schools’ family have been ordered to quarantine by health officials.

Pelham Public Schools: Will be closed Friday, March 13. The district said: "While we are still not aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pelham, we recognize that is likely to change in the near future. While any of these issues on their own would not warrant a school closure, the totality of these circumstances has caused unique concern for our district."

Scarsdale Public Schools: Remain closed through Wednesday, March 18 after a middle school faculty member tested positive for COVID-19.

Tuckahoe Union Free School District: Closed Thursday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 25 due to inclusion in the New Rochelle containment area. There are no confirmed cases in our school district.

Windward School, White Plains: All divisions of the school are closed for students, parents, and guardians from Tuesday, March 10 through the end of spring break.  Classes are scheduled to resume at the conclusion of spring break on Monday, March 30.

Three Schools Near Young Israel In New Rochelle Will Be Closed for Two Weeks:

New Rochelle High School, Albert Leonard Middle School and William B. Ward Elementary School: Closed from Wednesday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 25

Other schools closed in New Rochelle:

Ursuline School, Hudson Country Montessori School, Thornton Donovan School

Rockland County

East Ramapo Central School District: closed - Ramapo High School, Pomona Middle School and Hempstead Elementary School each had one student test positive for coronavirus. All public schools and the Administration Building are closed through Friday, March 13 to continue to sanitize all buildings and to formalize the district’s continuity plan.

Orange County

Pine Bush Central School District: Closed Thursday, March 12 after a parent who has not been tested was directed to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Ulster County

Wallkill Central School District: Closed Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 after Ulster County confirmed its second case of coronavirus.
